The redesign of the World Financial Center is aspiring to connect neighborhood residents with its myriad food and retail offerings and the remarkable One World Trade Center. Original designers Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects have rejuvenated the mezzanine levels of the center, now called Brookfield Place, which will be home to high-end retailers like Saks Fifth Avenue and French food market Le District. The restructuring is aimed to preserve the original structure while modernizing details to not only accommodate commercial tenants but invite in residents of luxury Battery Park condominiums such as nearby River & Warren.
