Saks Looks to Expand Downtown

Saks Fifth Avenue has long been the epitome of upper echelon style, and now, the New York institution has a chic downtown address to match. The popular chain is looking to build two new stores — one department store and one Off Fifth outlet —in Lower Manhattan, where many of the city’s most forward thinking businesses are now setting their sights.

The stores are rumored to be finding homes in new luxury retail development Brookfield Place and on the retail floor of One Liberty Place. It looks as though the stores will have no difficulty finding customers, with New Yorkers flocking to the neighborhood from far and wide to find homes in new luxury condos, like Battery Park City’s waterfront wonder, 212 Warren Street. It seems Saks continues to be at the cutting edge of fashion.
