River & Warren
Battery Park City, home to the luxury condominiums at River & Warren, boasts stellar views, easy access to the Financial District, and world-class restaurants and shopping. In other words, it has all the essential qualities and conveniences of urban living. Yet for all its city charms, the neighborhood also has an impressive array of parks and other spaces for residents seeking some fresh air. Here are a few of our favorite spots for exercise and play:

Asphalt Green (212 North End Avenue)
The facilities at Asphalt Green are all-encompassing. Here you can play basketball, volleyball, tennis, golf, and soccer, or take a class in Pilates or yoga. The jewel in Asphalt Green’s crown is its much-loved heated indoor pool, where adults can hone their backstrokes and kids can take swimming lessons. Other opportunities for kids include a kinder-gym and a program of summer camps. Visit www.asphaltgreen.org for more info.

Nelson A. Rockefeller Park (Along the water just west of River Terrace)
Wide lawns, works of public art, playgrounds, gardens, and pavilions come together to create Nelson A. Rockefeller Park. This idyllic green space is the creation of the Boston firm of Carr, Lynch, Hack and Sandell, who wanted to create a welcoming year-round outdoor space for residents of Battery Park City and Tribeca. Visitors can soak up live music performances, frolic in fountains during the summer, or simply find a bench along the esplanade and watch the Hudson roll by.

Manhattan Sailing School (375 South End Avenue)
Battery Park’s green spaces are further complimented by the Hudson River and New York Harbor. If you’ve always wanted to try your sea legs but have minimal experience, there’s no better way to learn the basics than by taking lessons at the Manhattan Sailing School. Described by Time Out New York as “the largest and most respected such organization operating in the New York Harbor,” Manhattan Sailing School is a stylish yet welcoming club, offering a variety of courses including basic sailing, coastal navigation, and junior sailing programs. Visit www.sailmanhattan.com for more info.

Battery Park City Ball Fields (North End Avenue between Murray and Warren Streets)
If ball games are your bag, you’re in luck: the Battery Park City Ball Fields include both baseball and soccer fields so you can hone your bat swing or your lateral pass. The fully recyclable synthetic turf used on the fields is state of the art so it can withstand season after season of use. This is a great place to meet with friends and colleagues to stay active.

Leroy Street Dog Run (In Hudson River Park at Leroy Street)
Residents who bring one or two furry friends to live at River & Warren will be pleased to know there are places where they can run and play as well. Leroy Street Dog Run provides a space where you can let your dogs off their leashes and watch them play with neighborhood buddies.
