River & Warren
As Tribeca and Battery Park City see an influx of new luxury condos, it is exciting to see neighborhood amenities follow suit. The recently opened high-end shopping Mecca Brookfield Place is bringing a collection of luxury brands down to the very tip of Manhattan in one delightful destination. While there is a myriad of retails coming to the area, here are a few highlights:

Diane von Furstenberg
The Belgium-born fashion mogul originally rose to fame in the early ’70s with her now-iconic wrap dress that revolutionized women’s sportswear. Forty years later her new eponymous downtown location functions as a further representation of her unique vision and style. Its racks offer all one could want from the DVF collections, from shoes, evening wear, and accessories to luggage and eye wear and everything in between. Von Furstenberg’s collections are known for being exquisite and sophisticated without being stiff; though high-end, her creations are never ostentatious.

Hermes
Hermes is synonymous with luxury. Simply mention the name, and images of beautifully crafted bags and exquisite silk scarves enter the mind. Of course the famed French design house is known the world over for its legendary Birkin Bag, but Hermes has long made superbly crafted clothing and accessories from the finest materials as well. The luxury brand’s downtown location in Brookfield Place will stock all of its best offerings including accessories and footwear, their beautiful silk scarves and ties, ready-to-wear clothing, iconic leather handbags, and even furniture.

Paul Smith
Over the last four decades, British designer Paul Smith has risen to the top of the contemporary men’s fashion world. Offering new takes on the classic, buttoned-up British aesthetic, his designs are injected with vibrant bursts of color as well as prints and patterns that add a unique flair to a look that is typically understated. His work has continued to grow in popularity in large part due to its unflinching standards of craftsmanship and quality. As brands grow, sometimes quality of workmanship suffers from the race to keep up with demand, but Paul Smith has been able to maintain the quality of his work throughout his career. His new store downtown will feature his iconic men’s line as well as shoes, accessories, and women's clothing.

Burberry
The legendary London-based design house puts its plaid signature on lower Manhattan with its new store in Brookfield Place. For well over a century, Burberry has been making clothing that honors and draws from traditional English designs while still remaining innovative and contemporary. Many attribute Burberry founder Thomas Burberry with inventing the trench coat—an unflinching staple and a widely popular Burberry item. After decades of transformations since then, Burberry stands as a leading-edge designer of contemporary menswear and womenswear, and its newest Manhattan home at Brookfield Place promises to build upon the grand tradition of its boutiques.

Omega
For horological enthusiasts and general everyday watch-wearers alike, Omega is a tried and true brand. The Swiss watchmaker has been designing and creating high-quality timepieces for over a century and a half, and many modern watch movements and designs are derivations of classic Omega creations. Omega has remained at the top for so long due to its meticulous dedication to craft; the company’s watches are always made from high-end materials and feature wonderfully intricate automatic movements. When purchasing a luxury timepiece, one of the main factors to take into account is how the value of the watch will fare over time. Omega has proven that an investment in one of their classic timepieces is about as close to a sure thing as one can get.
